Settling In

\tAlmost half of my time in Ecuador has passed and I am finally becoming acoustomed to life here. In the first two weeks, everything was strange, fun, and exciting. However after that, I started to understand that adapting to life in another country is not easy. The food is different and sometimes made me sick. I dont have a car and because of this it is much more difficult to travel inside the city and I cant leave the house alone after dark. Also, my clases here are organized much differently, with 4 hours of intensive English classes every day, an add

seems like every day here I see something more interesting than what I saw yesterday. It is one of the best things about the exchange experience than I have the opportunity to experience and learn many new things.

Last week I visited the San Roque market in Quito. Unlike supermarkets, outdoor markets have stalls of people selling their own products. Many times both sellers and buyers in these markets are indigenous.

At first glance, all the food in the world seems to exist in one place. The market is very lively, with people who have been. Also, they make traditional dolls, leather articles, hats, shoes, clothes, figurines, jewelry and many other things. Indeed, this market is a joy to watch.

Last week I visited the San Roque market in Quito. Unlikable the supermarkets, open air stalls of individuos Markets Have Their Own Who sell products. Much of the time Both thesellers and the buyers in These Markets Are Either Indigenous But Not Tourists or people of the middle or upper class.

At first sight, the world of food Entire Seems to exist in one place. The market is very animated, with people talking, walking, selling, buying and eating all at the Same Time. Outside of the main doors, Indigenous people sell food, small Amounts of fruits or vegetables, baskets or They Can Bring whatever item. Inside of the building, the food is Divided Into sections: fruits, grains, herbs, animals, meat, restaurants, and household items. Everything is fresh, Brought by the People During The Day.

In Otavalo, two and a half hoursours by car north of Quito is the Biggest and MOST Almost famous Indigenous market in all of South America. This market is famous for handicrafts STI. The Otavaleños, in Indigenous Society from northern Ecuador, Makes Some Of The Most Beautiful textile handicrafts in the world. Also, They make traditional dolls, leather items, caps and hats, shoes, clothes, figurines, jewelry and much much more. In truth, this market is a joy to see.

Lorraine Historical Events Esmeraldas

one of the largest mangrove reserves in the world but in recent years the population of mangroves have been devastated by large companies that are called shrimp. The shrimp are companies who raise shrimp in large pools near the sea. This process involves cutting all mangroves in the area, dig a big hole for the pool and raise shrimp with chemicals. However, eventually the pool is unusable, because the chemicals destroy the environment and the shrimp so they leave the site and create a new pool elsewhere. They left behind land that can not recover for many years, destroying not only the trees but also jeopardize livelihoods of the middens, people catching crabs and almeadvantages living in the mud beneath the mangroves. Now, the middens are struggling to support the law against the shrimp. Also, all mangroves are protected in a nature reserve by cutting and is illegal.

Yesterday I returned from Playa Ancha in the province of Esmareldas. I think That the beach is my favorite place in all of Ecuador. The ocean was very warm, the sun brilliant, and the fresh air. I Walked for three hours in the sand and found Many beautiful shells. However, I forgot That the sun is perpendicular to the earth and very close in Ecuador Becu it is the middle of the world and Becu of th
